The word Reiki is from the Japanese for universal life-force energy: energy that flows through all living things. In China and India it is called chi and prana. It is the vital energy underlying acupuncture, acupressure, tai chi and yoga.

It is very easy to learn how to use Reiki energy to heal yourself and others. There is not a lot of academic knowledge to contend with, most of the learning is taken up with hands-on practice combined with attunements performed by the Reiki Master/Teacher.

I usually teach Reiki in one-day workshops leading to an appropriate certificate, recognised by the Reiki Federation and other complementary medicine associations. Reiki 1 - where you are initiated and attuned to Reiki healing energy costs £90. Reiki 2, which is the practitioner level, is usually taken a few months after Reiki 1 to allow the student time to practice and work with the energy. Reiki 2 goes deeper and includes the use of Reiki symbols and mantras. It costs £120.

Tuition is either on a one-to-one basis or in groups of no more than four. There is a monthly workshop, usually on a Saturday at the Blue Lotus Therapy Centre near Redruth.
